Interior design at this level covers the planning and detailing of complex interior design projects with an emphasis on space creation, space planning and the factors that affect people’s responses to social and working environments.

Work placement is a mandatory component, providing a framework that enables students to gain relevant working experience while developing specialised knowledge and practical skills in organisational learning and capability development. It takes place in the final term of study and requires 120–135 hours of work placement, attendance at studio class and the completion of assessment work. Specific subject requirements are outlined in the individual course documents. It is the students’ responsibility to find and secure a Host Organisation for their Work Placement prior to the start of their final term. APC will support students with resources to secure a Host Organisation prior to the Work Placement.

  • AutoCAD – Free for students AutoDesk.
  • Revit Architecture (Advanced Diploma) – Free for students with AutoDesk.
  • SketchUp – Student price (Approx. $99 per year)
  • Adobe Creative Cloud subscription for Photoshop and Acrobat ($21.99/mth first year, $43.99/mth after that)
  • Google Suite (Google Docs, Slides and Sheets included as part of your Student Email Account)
  • Relevant software to upload and download video files

Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) is available for all courses, subjects and units of learning and competency being offered by APC and APC Design School.

If you have experience, skills and knowledge in your field of work – you may be eligible or even close to attaining a related qualification.

All APC vocational courses are assessed through a combination of assessment types that may include short answer questions, studio projects, essays, reports, group tasks, portfolios and/or presentations.

Entry Requirements

Academic:

Successful completion of MSF50218 Diploma of Interior Design at Australian Pacific College or APC Design School (due to it being a nested qualification).

English language proficiency requirements:

This Course requires you to be at an Upper-Intermediate English Level or have completed the English Proficiency Skills test with an Overall Minimum Pass Rate.
